Stage Assistant I- LPAC


Under general supervision, performs responsible work associated with the preparation of operations and activities for the Lancaster Performing Arts Center. General direction is provided by the Technical Director and on occasion by the Stage Assistant’s II and III.


  • Assist in the hang, gel, cable and focus stage lights; hanging of scenery and soft goods.
  • Set up microphones; monitor and run microphone and monitor cable.
  • Operate follow spot, load in and set up of scenery, lights and sound.
  • Operate counterweight system.
  • Clean, steam and repair costumes.
  • Clean and maintain all technical theatre areas and equipment.
  • Follow the City’s and the Parks, Recreation, & Arts department’s policies and procedures.
  • Communicate information to supervisor so that the management team can respond/address any issues as they arise.
  • Possess excellent communication and makes knowledgeable choices.
  • Promote and ensure the safety of patrons and employees who utilize the LPAC facility.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.


  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • A minimum of one year of prior stage hand experience in the performing arts, or have taken High school level Stage Craft/Lighting/Sound classes.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the public and City staff.
  • Ability to be aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit.
  • Friendly, versatile and outgoing personality.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills and organizational skills. 
  • Must be willing to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Salary: $12.76 - $14.36 per hour
