City of Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris and City Council Recognize Deputy Mike Kuper as Community Contributor
Dedicated Law Enforcement Officer and Community Volunteer Honored as Part of 40th Anniversary Celebration
During last night’s City Council meeting, Mayor R. Rex Parris and the Lancaster City Council honored Deputy Mike Kuper as the sixth recipient of the City’s Community Contributor award. Deputy Kuper, a military veteran and beloved local law enforcement officer, was recognized for his countless years of dedicated service toward making Lancaster a safer place. The Community Contributors program is part of the City’s yearlong 40th anniversary celebration, and recognizes those who have invested years of service into the community.
“The City of Lancaster is fortunate to have such dedicated members of law enforcement serving and protecting our residents – and Deputy Mike Kuper is no exception,” said City of Lancaster Mayor R. Rex Parris. “Mike has literally made it his life’s work to help improve Lancaster in any way he can; from his more than three decades of service with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, to his unwavering commitment to the betterment of our youth, Mike Kuper epitomizes what it means to be a true Community Contributor.”
As a 30-year member of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Deputy Kuper worked to ensure the utmost safety of Antelope Valley residents; including assignments in Alcohol and Beverage enforcement, as well as a City Liaison.
In addition to all he has done, and continues to do for the Lancaster community, Deputy Kuper has had a profound impact on the youth community via the A.V. Explorer Academy. His guidance and mentorship has helped many Deputy Explorers pursue their own careers in law enforcement, some of whom serve at the Lancaster Station.Following his retirement from the Department in 2012, Deputy Kuper quickly returned as a Reserve Deputy, where he works closely with the City of Lancaster’s Department of Public Safety, and aids with a number of City events.
