Seasonal Favorites, The Nutcracker and A Christmas Carol Highlight Holiday Season at LPAC
A Well-loved Antelope Valley holiday tradition continues at the Lancaster Performing Arts Center (LPAC) this month as Cedar Street Theatre brings to life the Charles Dickens classic, A Christmas Carol and The Antelope Valley Ballet (AVB) presents its annual production of Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker.
The traditional holiday musical A Christmas Carol, adapted from Charles Dickens’ classic tale, is centered around the unethical sour and stingy of Ebenezer Scrooge, and his uncaring and “Bah, Humbug!” attitude towards the holiday season. One fateful Christmas Eve, Scrooge is visited by the haunting spirit of his old partner, Jacob Marley, and three ghosts, guiding him on a journey towards a personal epiphany.
Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker tells the beautiful story of young Marie Stahlbaum’s amazing adventure in which her favorite Christmas toy, the Nutcracker, comes alive. After defeating the evil Mouse King in battle, The Nutcracker whisks her away to an enchanting magical kingdom.
A Christmas Carol will be presented in four memorable performances at the LPAC, December 1 at 8 p.m., December 2 at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., and December 3 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $22 and $18, and youth tickets $14. The Nutcracker unfolds on the LPAC stage for three spellbinding performances, December 9 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and December 10 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $30 and $25, and youth tickets $15.
