John McEuen Brings Will the Circle be Unbroken to the Lancaster Performing Arts Center
John McEuen, founding member of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (NGDB) brings his unique cast of string musicians, including some original NGDB members, to the Lancaster Performing Arts Center (LPAC) for a multi-media show featuring both his music and decades of musical history on Friday, March 23.
McEuen’s multi-media show will immerse the audience in a collection of archival and Circle session photographs, film (including 8 mm footage from 1967), and the early music of The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band -- all interwoven to share the music and memories of the band’s incredible career. Additionally, attendees will enjoy some of McEuen’s new music, as well as receive a unique look at NGDB’s 1977 Russia trip, which marked the first American band to tour behind the Iron Curtain.
This special show borrows its name from the landmark 1972 platinum album, Will the Circle be Unbroken. The album brought together icons of bluegrass, country, and country rock including: NGDB; Roy Acuff; Doc Watson; Merle Travis; Jimmy Martin; Earl Scruggs; Vassar Clements; and Maybelle Carter, resulting in a record that is relevant to this day as an Amazon top-seller.
