California Poppy Festival™ to Include City of Lancaster Recycling Center Booth, Celebrating Environmental Conservation
24-Hour Recycling Center will be Closed April 21-22
The 27th Annual California Poppy Festival™, which represents a combined celebration of Earth Day and the conservation of the Golden California Poppy blooms, will take place this weekend, April 21-22. Eager to inform and engage with attendees regarding local recycling services and environmental programs, the City of Lancaster’s 24-Hour Recycling Center staff will be hosting a booth at the event. As such, the 24-Hour Recycling Center will be closed during festival days.
During the two-day celebration, festivalgoers are encouraged to stop by the Recycling Center booth to receive current program information and address any question they may have. Hosted at Sgt. Steve Owen Memorial Park, 43063 10th Street West, the California Poppy Festival™ will also feature entertainment, exhibits, arts and crafts, food, a classic car show, and more.
While closed the 24-Hour Recycling Center, located at 615 West Avenue H, will offer limited access for oil and electronic waste drop off only. No mattresses, paint, antifreeze, or batteries will be accepted during the festival weekend. The Recycling Center will resume its regular hours of operation on Monday, April 23 at 8:00 a.m.
As a reminder, the 24-Hour Recycling Center never accepts light bulbs, tires, gas appliances, furniture, gasoline, hazardous chemicals, pharmaceutical waste, medical/biological waste, or sharps (needles).
