A Southern California native, Andrew "Drew" Mercy graduated from Quartz Hill High School in 1997, and received his Bachelor’s Degree in 2002 from University of California, Davis. Since 2000, he has worked as an advisor to several state legislators, including the late Senator William J. “Pete” Knight and former Senator Sharon Runner. He served as Deputy Chief of Staff to Senator George Runner in the State Senate, and continues as a Senior Advisor and Taxpayer Advocate for Senator Runner at the Board of Equalization.
Mercy is an active member of the Antelope Valley community. Since 2014, he has been a Director of the Antelope Valley Fair Association, and currently serves as Vice President. He is a Director and Past President of the Antelope Valley Board of Trade. He holds membership in Lancaster West Rotary, and formerly served on the Citizen’s Advisory Committee for the California State Prison - Los Angeles County, the Antelope Valley College Measure R Oversight Committee, and the City of Lancaster Architectural and Design Commission.
