Under general supervision, the Park Ranger performs a variety of duties in the areas of interpretation, environmental education, resource management, recreation, law enforcement, and maintenance to promote public safety and appropriate use of City parks and facilities through visitations and surveillance of sites, and by maintaining cooperative relations with the public, other staff, and law enforcement agencies.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must have a combination of experience and education that would provide the knowledge and abilities to perform the duties of the position. A typical way to qualify would be completion of two years of college or university courses with an emphasis in recreation, park management, forestry, environmental education or a related field, or one year working in a security, outdoor education, law enforcement, high public contact and/or customer service related job, and completion of high school or the equivalent. Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid California Driver's License is required.
The ideal candidate must be able to effectively communicate concisely orally and in writing. Basic First Aid and CPR certifications are required. Upon selection, the applicant chosen for this position must successfully complete Peace Officer Training as prescribed in California Penal Code, Section 832, as certified under authority of the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training at the City's expense.

Salary: $11-57 - $13.03 per hour
