Lancaster, CA. December 4, 2024 – The Lancaster Museum of Art and History (MOAH) is pleased to present a multimedia performance and experience by artist Rob Grad titled There’s Nothing Here Except Everything. The performance is in participation with the museum’s current exhibition, Desert Forest: Life with Joshua Trees, a partnership with PST ART: Art & Science Collide presented by Getty. The event takes place in MOAH’s main gallery on Saturday, December 7 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Guests can reserve a free ticket to the performance on the museum’s Eventbrite: There’s Nothing Here Except Everything Performance.
Grad’s performance of There’s Nothing Here Except Everything addresses humanity’s relationship with the desert, particularly the iconic Joshua Trees. The interactive experience highlights the Joshua Tree’s crucial role in the desert ecosystem and emphasizes it as a spiritual center, with influence that reaches beyond its branches. By immersing the audience with music, projected images, and soundscapes, Grad will bring the spiritual presence of the Joshua Tree to the center of MOAH’s galleries.
This performance comes from the Lancaster Museum of Art and History’s participation in PST ART: Art & Science Collide. Desert Forest: Life with Joshua Trees sheds light on the endangered Joshua Tree and the fragile Mojave Desert ecosystem that sustains it. Incorporating scientific research, natural history, indigenous knowledge, and artistic expression, the exhibition shares the history, science, and challenges facing the Joshua Trees.
Desert Forest: Life with Joshua Trees is among more than 70 exhibitions and programs presented as part of PST ART. Returning in September 2024 with its latest edition, PST ART: Art & Science Collide, this landmark regional event explores the intersections of art and science, both past and present. PST ART is presented by Getty. For more information about PST ART: Art & Science Collide, please visit pst.art.
