Lancaster, CA. December 12, 2024 – The holiday spirit was in full swing at Lancaster City Hall on Tuesday, December 10, as the City hosted its beloved annual Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and bike giveaway. Families, friends, and community members gathered to enjoy an afternoon of festive cheer, heartwarming traditions, and holiday surprises.

Mayor R. Rex Parris reflects on the importance of holiday traditions in the community, saying, “The Christmas tree lighting is a cherished tradition that reminds us of the joy, unity, and hope this season brings. It’s a moment to come together as a community and celebrate all the things that make Lancaster such a special place to call home.”

The celebration began with an invocation by Pastor Chris Johnson, setting a meaningful tone for the event. One of the most anticipated moments of the day was the bike giveaway, generously sponsored by the Sheriff Boosters. Ten lucky children received brand-new bicycles and helmets, presented by Santa himself. Vice Mayor Marvin Crist shared his enthusiasm, stating, “Seeing the smiles on these children’s faces is truly one of the best parts of the holiday season. Giving back to our community, especially to our youngest residents, is a tradition we hold dear here in Lancaster.”

Safety was also a key theme of the giveaway. LASD's Captain Bartlett and LPD's Chief Armalin emphasized the importance of wearing helmets and following safety protocols while enjoying the new bikes. “Christmas is a season of giving and a chance to give back to the community we love,” Captain Bartlett remarked. “The joy on these children’s faces is what the season is all about.” LASD Deputies helped the children put on their new helmets and ensure they were fitted properly.
