Lancaster, CA. January 16, 2025 – The City of Lancaster is proud to host Justice Sunday 2025, a heartfelt celebration of community, creativity, and collaboration, on Sunday, January 19, 2025. Justice Sunday is an annual event, started by the National Alliance of Faith and Justice, honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. while inspiring individuals and groups to engage in collaborative community service. Each year, Lancaster’s celebration adopts a unique theme, and this year, it highlights the Untold Stories of Black Innovators and their remarkable contributions to shaping history and society.

“Justice Sunday is more than an event—it’s a testament to the power of unity and the strength of our shared values,” said Mayor R. Rex Parris. “This year, we’re excited to honor the remarkable contributions of Black innovators while creating opportunities for education, reflection, and connection.”

Justice Sunday 2025 will feature a day filled with inspiring activities designed to bring our community together:

  • Street Festival: From 1 to 5 p.m., The BLVD will transform into a lively festival with live entertainment, delicious food from local vendors, and engaging resources provided by community organizations. Families and friends can gather to celebrate and learn in an inclusive and welcoming environment.
  • Theatrical Performance: The Justice Sunday Arts Initiative will present an original play created and performed by students from the Antelope Valley High School District.
