Lancaster, CA. May 15, 2025 – The City of Lancaster, in coordination with the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans), is sharing an important update for the Avenue J Interchange Improvements project.

Beginning May 20*, 2025, the Southbound Avenue J-8 On-Ramp will be permanently closed as part of the transition to the newly constructed southbound on-ramp at Avenue J, which is now open and fully operational.

Launched in October 2023, the Avenue J Interchange Improvements project is a major infrastructure investment aimed at widening ramps, improving pavement, upgrading traffic signals, and enhancing overall mobility in one of Lancaster’s key gateway corridors. Scheduled for completion in Spring 2026, the project will support economic growth, enhance roadway safety, and improve access to the emerging Lancaster Health District.
