Lancaster, CA. January 9, 2026 – The City of Lancaster invites residents, families, businesses, and community groups to come together for the next Love Your City Community Clean-Up, taking place in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service on Saturday, January 17, beginning at 8 a.m.
This will be the third Love Your City clean-up and the City’s largest and most ambitious effort to date, offering a wide range of service opportunities across Lancaster. Volunteers will take part in neighborhood and desert cleanups, park beautification projects, block wall painting to cover past graffiti repairs, and the creation of a community anti-graffiti mural. Additional service opportunities will be available at multiple locations throughout the City.
“MLK Day reminds us that meaningful change happens through action,” said Mayor R. Rex Parris. “In Lancaster, that means neighbors coming together to care for the places we live, work, and raise our families. This clean-up is a powerful example of what we can accomplish when we serve side by side.”
Volunteers will meet at Desert Vineyard Church on January 17 at 8:00 a.m., where teams will be assigned to various project locations. Lunch will be provided at 12:00 p.m. Participants are encouraged to wear closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing suitable for walking, painting, and working outdoors.
“This is about neighbors stepping up for one another - and our churches have been leading the way,” said Vice Mayor Marvin Crist. “When faith organizations, residents, and the City come together to care for our neighborhoods, it shows real pride in Lancaster. Every volunteer makes a difference.”
While pre-registration is not required, the City asks individuals and groups to RSVP with an approximate participation count to help with planning. RSVPs can be made by calling 661-723-6195 or emailing handrews@cityoflancasterca.gov.
New volunteers are especially encouraged to join - no prior experience is needed, and all supplies and instructions will be provided. For those who have participated in previous clean-ups, the City invites you to show your Lancaster pride by wearing your orange TeamUp Lancaster shirt.
The Love Your City initiative reflects Lancaster’s ongoing commitment to community pride, collaboration, and creating a cleaner, more welcoming city for everyone.
