Reopening lancaster (1)

Lancaster, CA. May 29, 2020 – Los Angeles County was given authorization from the state to reopen restaurants for in-person dining and resume services at barbershops and hair salons.

The variance granted amends the current Health Officer Safer at Work and in the Community Order. All businesses must adhere to distancing and infection control protocols that provide safety for employees, customers, and our most vulnerable residents. These protocols were developed to guide reopening and are available online. Inspectors will continue to monitor for compliance and ensure that all adhere to the Health Officer Order. Higher-risk businesses remain closed.

As the recovery journey continues, more people being around one another may result in increased transmission of COVID-19. The actions everyone takes today will impact where numbers are in two or three weeks. Everyone must continue to follow distancing and infection control protocols and wear a clean, face covering that securely covers both the nose and mouth when in contact with people not in their household.

Lancaster is in stage two of the five-stage Roadmap to Recovery and until the final stage five is reached, the City will continue to ensure that the community slows the spread of COVID-19 to prevent an overwhelming surge of cases.

The City is working to help small businesses prepare to reopen as quickly and as safely as possible under the guidelines of Los Angeles County and the State of California. The Lancaster City Council has enacted the Stand Strong Reopening Assistance Program. The program is designed to lessen the costs of reopening for small businesses, save business owners time and effort sourcing hard-to-find supplies, and keep our community safe as we reopen our economy. For more information about the program, please visit www.cityoflancasterca.org/reopeningassistance or contact our Small Business Recovery Resource team at 661-723-6236 or SBR@cityoflancasterca.org.

The City has also announced the “Stand Strong & Stay Active” program designed to support our local gyms and help keep the community active and healthy. We look forward to sharing details on this initiative and others in the coming days.
