The City Council has adopted the Residential Zones (Chapter 17.08 of the Lancaster Municipal Code) to implement the goals and objectives of latest General Plan, adopted in 2009. The Residential Zones include regulations and guidelines for development in the City’s Residential Zones, including the management of uses, as well as standards for site and building design. The update features provisions that encourage infill development and options for a greater variety of housing types.
City of Lancaster released the Draft Residential Zones for a 60-day public review and comment between January and March 2012. Following several outreach efforts and a series of public hearings, the Planning Commission adopted Resolution No. 13-01 on January 28, 2013, recommending to the City Council approval of the City’s Residential Zoning Ordinance. On March 26, 2013, the City Council approved Ordinance No. 989 for the comprehensive revision of the Residential Zoning Ordinance and other zoning code amendments for implementation of Housing Element specific actions.
