In March of 2001, the City Council and Agency Board approved the North Downtown Transit Village Project (NDTV) consisting of 100 acres bounded by Avenue I, Lancaster Boulevard, Sierra Highway and 10th Street West.
The North Downtown Transit Village Project is a development that enhances economic opportunity and community well-being while protecting and restoring the natural environment upon which people and economies depend. The City is investing time and money in efforts that simultaneously strengthen the environmental, economic, and social dimensions of the community.
The NDTV will provide for the elimination of blight, construction of affordable housing, relocation of several social service organizations into one area, improved educational opportunities, and improved retail opportunities for area residents and employees. This project will enhance the mix of residential, commercial, educational, religious, and public uses.
