"A successful community center would be active in engaging with the surrounding community and adapting their recreational and developmental services to their immediate needs."

Traditional community centers focus heavily on recreation and multipurpose meeting spaces. Lancaster's Community Center takes this idea of providing a public space further by incorporating holistic opportunities for personal and professional development through its Strategic Technology, Innovation & Resilience (STIR) driven initiatives, resulting in technology-focused programming comprised of podcast recording and computer training; innovative approaches for exposure to up-and-coming fields, such as a state-of-the-art makerspace and music engineering room; and resilience through providing various types of needed services in one place through the expansion of committed partnerships.
Our Mission is to engage our diverse population of residents, provide the bridge resources necessary to enhance their lives, and empower them through these efforts to succeed in the world.
Our Vision was borne out of the City Council’s recognition of and response to the needs of the City’s diverse populations, as well as the need to repurpose a vacant facility.
Community partnerships often result in long-term, multi-faceted, and value-driven results for the greater good -- the Community Center’s partners are no exception. The City of Lancaster has strategically partnered with organizations that share our philosophy, push innovation, and are equally dedicated to offering resources that deliver economic, social, and environmental benefits to the community. Below is a list of our current partners:
- Antelope Valley Partners for Health (AVPH)
- Innovation Education
- The Salvation Army
- Independent Contract Instructors
The City is strategically seeking out additional qualified, successful organizations to provide other planned programming. To learn more about becoming a partner, click here.
