Lancaster Police Department

Police Landing Page Banner

Welcome to the Lancaster Police Department

As the City of Lancaster evolves, the safety and protection of our residents remain our top priority. In late 2023, we proudly introduced the Lancaster Police Department. Partnering with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD), we have developed a hybrid policing model that emphasizes collaboration, community engagement, and shared responsibility.

Founded on principles of unity and joint commitment, the Lancaster Police Department aims to enhance and support the efforts of the LASD. This innovative partnership ushers in a new era of community-led policing, allowing the LASD to focus on major crimes while we implement proactive prevention programs to address community safety issues.

To get in touch with the Department, please call 661-723-6063. To apply for a position, click HERE.

Our Commitment to Public Safety

To demonstrate our unwavering commitment to redefining public safety, the City invested $10.6M toward this hybrid model. Its objectives are to supplement the LASD’s policing efforts by:

  • Comprehensively evaluating community needs and resources

  • Establishing a shared vision for safety

  • Implementing prevention programs to address community safety issues proactively

Sworn officers at Lancaster Police Department Rodrick Armalin (Chief of Police) and Chris Roberts (Assistant Chief of Police) will guide the Department while strengthening our relationship with the community we are dedicated to serving.

Crime Reduction Success

Lancaster crime has fallen 4.32% since the formation of our Police Department in September 2023.

We take pride in protecting our residents through our community-led policing efforts. But there is always more than can be done and we need your help to continue driving down crime.

Digital Shield Initiative

In collaboration with the LASD, the City of Lancaster has launched an innovative strategy called the Digital Shield Initiative. This approach utilizes state-of-the-art technology to create a protective barrier around the City, ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents and visitors.

In order to build this dome of protection, the City has established an Intelligence Crime Assessment Center that integrates different networks for information sharing. This centralized hub will use advanced technologies such as gunshot detection, license plate recognition, drones, cameras, and AI to collect, analyze, and anticipate criminal risks and potential threats to the public.

Learn more about the Digital Shield Initiative here.

Transparency

  • Drone

The purpose of the Lancaster Police Department’s Drone Program is to provide airborne support to police operations in a safe, responsible, and transparent manner to preserve the peace, reduce response times, and increase the quality of life in the city of Lancaster.

In adherence to privacy standards, LPD strictly follows policies prohibiting drone operators from intentionally capturing or transmitting images of any location where individuals would reasonably expect privacy, unless authorized by a judge's warrant or in emergency situations.

The Lancaster Police Department is committed to maintaining transparency with the public. The Department’s transparency portal tracks drone flights launched by the department, allowing citizens to view recent flight activity and program details, ensuring accountability and public trust.

Please note that flights that are covert or part of ongoing investigations will not be displayed for security reasons.
